"Gerbil Paradise by Nancy ("Rat wilda") I hope you're up there playing In endless fields of green, That there are more sunflower seeds Than any gerbil's ever seen. I hope there's toilet paper, Tons of cardboard tubes, Some blue spiral-wire-toy thingies, And hollowed out wooden cubes. I hope there are plenty of chew sticks, Rolled up manila file folders, And always-full water bottles In gerbil-safe hanging holders I hope that there are sand bowls, Where you can dig and roll, Your own special squeaky wheel, And secret hideaway-hole. I hope there are some glass jars, too, For upside-down gerbil digging, And tasty treats on every bush Perfect for gerbil pigging. I hope that there are plastic toys That don't make gerbils sick, That there are mountains of corncob For you to dig and kick. I hope that there's an angel Who knows your favorite snack And lots of friendly gerbils To help you groom your back. I hope, when you get sleepy, There's a handy gerbil pile For you to cuddle into And nap for a little while. I hope there are just-filled food bowls Scattered everywhere. I hope that there's a gentle hand To give you loving care. I hope that you don't miss me As much as I miss you And that you don't long for The fun things we used to do. I hope you've found a special friend And the gerbils all play nice, That you have everything you could ever want In Gerbil Paradise. ~~In memory of my Peeky~~"
