2011 Mid-Atlantic Show

Our third annual Midatlantic Show was the best ever! We had around 70 gerbils competing and the quality of animals - females especially - was
very high. There were several highly competitive and exciting classes, and some surprise wins. The public seems to be expecting "The Gerbil
Show" now, and we get more and more people who have moved from questions like "is that a mouse?" to more serious ones like "what do you judge
them for?" Thanks to everyone who took extra time to educate the public about our beloved pets.

The official results will be out soon. In the meantime, let me thank all the members who emailed, edited, shipped, received, uploaded, collected,
purchased, participated, assisted, judged, chatted with visitors, watched over stuff, loaded and unloaded, stacked and unstacked, drove
long distances and drove back. Included in this long and hopefully complete list are: my co-coordinators, Mary Zoccola and Rebecca Ward;
judges Judi Poirier, Donna Anastasi and Rebecca Ward; show secretaries Jo Kelley (registrar) and Rebecca Azer (on site); Youth Volunteers Emily
P. and Caroline H.; Ruth Divine, who assists before and after with every show; and members and friends Cathy, Katie, Craig, Mary H., Jennifer and
Bill, who participated and helped out in any way asked, any time. We also thank Debbie "the rat lady" Ducommon who as always, entertained us
with rat stories and consulted during health check. And lastly, many thanks to the Atlantic Weather System, which elected this year not to ruin our fun with a big load of white powder.

The New England show is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, behind that big pile of snow. If you came home from the Midatlantic show to find pinkies in the
nest, those pinkies will be eligible for the pup class in New England! The dates are April 29-30, and the show will return to the much-loved Middlesex Community College location in Bedford, MA. Show pages will be up soon. Only 89 days to go!
